Vision, determination & passion. In love with her Indian roots, Gaitrie has been dancing since she could remember. With influences like Madhuri Dixit, Ashwariya Rai-Bachan, Shridevi, and under the guidance of Payal Kadakia & Pooja Narang, Gaitrie's style & talent encompasses all of these inspiring women.
It all began at the University at Buffalo. Gaitrie was given the opportunity to not only dance but to choreograph for a variety of student run cultural organizations. Throughout her years at UB she gained the experience, knowledge & support she needed to dance. After graduating in 2006, she returned to New York City, knowing that she needed dance in her life she sought out different dance schools. Gaitrie found Bollywood Axion under the direction of Pooja Narang and was recognized by Pooja as an exceptional dancer. She moved quickly from classes to Pooja's Dance Troupe. Here is where she received the name "Devi" from Pooja. Being taught different forms of Indian dance styles, performance opportunities such as Crossing Boarders, "Bollywood Hero" Times Square Flash Mob as well as dancing alongside Pooja was a true honor.
At the Sa Dance Company, under the guidance of Artistic Director Payal Kadakia, Gaitrie was able to expand her dance style. Comprised of Bollywood, Indian Classical, Folk & Contemporary, Payal's vision to bring Indian awareness to the mainstream was a true inspiration to Gaitrie.
Returning to where it all unfolded Buffalo, NY, Gaitrie Devi has a vision to bring the beauty and artistry of Bollywood Dance to the Buffalo and the Western New York community.
